Shared TNCs: Lessons Learned and Looking Forward

A session by Alistair Adams, Allen Greenberg, Elizabeth Irvin and Stanley E. Young PE, PhD
Ridecell, Federal Highway Administration, Union of Concerned Scientists & Advanced Transportation & Urban Scientist, Mobility Systems Team Lead

Before the recent epidemic, cities that regulated TNCs preferred shared rides for both congestion and equity reasons. But riders have shown a preference for the latter. Drawing on behavioral studies, data from programs such as Chicago’s congestion pricing and private-sector experience, this panel will examine ways to encourage truly shared rides. They will include discussion of possible way forward for ridesourcing programs.
